Our goal is for our products to inspire you to cook freely, without limits, and to make plant-based cuisine a natural part of your culinary repertoire.
To celebrate the beauty and versatility of plant-based ingredients, we’ve curated a list of some of our favourite vegan restaurants in London, places where innovation and flavour come together to create truly unforgettable dining experiences.
HOLY CARROT, NOTTING HILL
Holy Carrot’s Notting Hill location is its first permanent space, after several successful pop-ups in Knightsbridge and beyond. The 50-cover restaurant, complete with a 12-person outdoor terrace, is led by ex-Acme chef Daniel Watkins, who presents a menu full of bold, seasonal flavours, with an emphasis on “fire and ferments.” Local, sustainably sourced ingredients are the backbone of the dishes. Standout plates include crispy celeriac fritters, smoky roasted carrots, and koji flatbread with chili ragu and smoked mushrooms. For dessert, don't miss the matcha tiramisu or the creamy chocolate tahini crèmeux with roasted hazelnuts.
PLATES, SHOREDITCH
A relatively new addition to East London, Plates is the brainchild of siblings Kirk and Keeley Haworth. Following Kirk’s journey from winning North West Young Chef of the Year at 17 to embracing a plant-based lifestyle after a Lyme Disease diagnosis, the restaurant offers a regularly changing tasting menu (£75) that showcases Kirk’s talent. Seasonal, organic produce is at the heart of every dish. Highlights include laminated sourdough with whipped spirulina butter, mung and urad bean lasagne, and raw cacao gâteau with sour cherry. Plates is currently fully booked until February 2025, but do check for cancellations.
MALLOW, BOROUGH MARKET & CANARY WHARF
Mallow, the latest venture from the team behind Mildreds (one of London’s oldest vegan restaurants), offers a vibrant and seasonal plant-based menu. With two locations at Borough Market and Canary Wharf, the restaurant focuses on small, sustainable businesses and fresh ingredients. The sharing-plates concept is perfect for groups, try the padron peppers with smoky peanut chili oil, turmeric milk bread with apricot harissa butter, or the crispy green chili oil gyoza. Other menu highlights include shiitake and chestnut mushroom croquettes and pan-fried green chili oil gyoza.
PLANTS, MAYFAIR
Plants is a relaxed bistro in Mayfair from Eleanor Mills, the creator of the “Deliciously Ella” brand. Everything is made in-house, including culturing their own butter and baking sourdough. The seasonal menu features creative small plates and hearty mains, with dishes like roasted cauliflower with tahini and pomegranate, Caesar salad, risotto with cep mushrooms, and cashew-based cheesecakes. The flatbreads come highly recommended, as does the indulgent dessert selection.
THE GATE, HAMMERSMITH
One of London’s oldest vegan restaurants, The Gate opened in 1989 and is a beloved institution for plant-based dining. The menu blends Arabic, Indian, and Jewish flavours, inspired by the childhood experiences of the restaurant's founders, Michael and Adrian Daniel. Recent favourites include crispy courgette flowers filled with butternut squash and pine nuts, as well as a flavourful chickpea tagine with apricot and Moroccan spices. The Gate’s loyal following continues to grow, cementing its status as a vegan classic.
ITADAKI ZEN, KING'S CROSS
Itadaki Zen is Europe’s first vegan Japanese restaurant, offering a cosy, student-friendly vibe near King's Cross. Known for its simple décor and tapas-style sharing plates, Itadaki Zen features an array of vegan dishes made with surprising substitutes. Don’t miss the ‘calamari’ made from chewy king oyster mushrooms or the tempura, served with crispy batter and delicate sushi rolls. The restaurant’s mellow flavors complement the soothing atmosphere, making it a favourite for casual vegan dining. Try the passion fruit mochi ice cream for dessert—it’s worth the wait.
GAUTHIER, SOHO
When Michelin-starred chef Alexis Gauthier transitioned to a fully vegan menu at his Soho restaurant, it turned heads. Gauthier’s Petit Dîner, a seven-course tasting menu, is a testament to his expertise in creating inventive, plant-based dishes. Highlights include salsify with samphire and juniper hollandaise, shiitake caviar with tapioca, and other creative takes on fine dining. Whether you’re vegan or not, Gauthier Soho is an exceptional experience for those seeking refined, vegetable-focused cuisine.
TOFU VEGAN, ISLINGTON
Tofu Vegan has grown a strong following with its flavourful Chinese vegan menu. The dishes, centred around tofu and mushrooms, are designed for sharing. Popular choices include wontons in fragrant broth, sweet potato noodles in spicy sesame sauce, and sizzling tofu served on a hot plate. The special fried noodles in Sichuan sauce and the “Pecking D'ck” (vegan duck pancakes) are also must-tries. With its bold flavours and inventive takes on traditional Chinese dishes, this is a spot that should be on every vegan’s radar.
CLUB MEXICANA, VARIOUS
After years of successful street food trading, Club Mexicana has opened three permanent locations across London: Seven Dials Market, Kingly Court, and Shoreditch. Known for their loaded nachos and indulgent tacos, the menu features a variety of meat substitutes like BBQ jackfruit, ‘chorizo,’ and fried ‘chicken.’ The BBQ short rib taco and the Al Pastor taco with marinated shawarma and pineapple are particularly popular. If you’re craving tacos, be sure to visit on a Tuesday evening for their all-you-can-eat deal.
PIED A TERRE, FITZROVIA
Pied à Terre, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Fitzrovia, is renowned for its exquisite vegan tasting menu. Chef Asimakis Chaniotis creates beautifully crafted dishes that fuse Mediterranean and Japanese influences, using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The 10-course vegan tasting menu features artfully plated dishes like chlorophyll-fresh vegetable creations, and wine pairings that will keep you guessing. For a truly special night out, Pied à Terre’s refined, tranquil atmosphere makes it the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience.
